Background information

Sustainable energy

The Dutch Open Solarboat Challenge is more than just a solar boat race. It is also a project to make young people of different educational levels in a challenging way acquainted with the possibilities of sustainable energy, in this case solar energy. The road towards sustainable energy supplies, which we can expect to come about in the next couple of years, is full of challenges and opportunities. The solarboat race will put young people on the right track of sustainable energy and sustainable development in the near future.

Zeeland land of water(sports)

Zeeland with its surrounding areas in the Southwest Delta is a very special border zone between sea and land. The diversity of the varying landscapes in the former islands, the old and the new polders and the large and small fresh and salt waters, give the area its unique character. Moreover, Zeeland is an experimental area for new developments in the renewed restoration of the dynamics between land and water and will make the Delta ‘climate-proof’ for the future.
