Zeeland Solarboat on National Geographic Channel | Dutch Open Solarboat Challenge 2009

The Zeeland Solarboat from the sCool team of ROC Zeeland can be seen in full splendour in the programme Green Dream District on

National Geographic Channel. They are scheduled on Sunday 5 April at 13:00 and 19:30hrs.

Green Dream District is a new programme on National Geographic. In a period of 13 weeks the programme offers ‘young inventors a

chance to present surprising, cool, but also simple solutions to a professional jury’. At the end, the jury decides who has presented

the most sustainable invention of 2009. The finals take place on 22 April; the winner gets a first prize of € 5,000.

The Scool team itself does not compete in the selection. The item on the solarboat race is used as an illustration how young people

can make use of sustainable energy sources in an active and specialised way. In an earlier programme (number 5) attention was

also paid to the team of the Hanze Hogeschool in Groningen.
