Organisation

The foundation “Zeeuwse Zonneboot Race” is the initiator and organiser of the Dutch Open Solarboat Challenge. This foundation organised the first solarboat race in the Netherlands in 2005. Since then, a soalrboat race has been held in Zeeland every year. The ‘Dutch Open’ is the logical continuation in the fast development of solarboat races. Next to the Zeeland race, there is also a solarboat race in Friesland (Frisian Solar Challenge), which takes place every other year. Both organisations closely cooperate.

The mini-solarboat race for the eldest pupils of primary schools and the gadget race for secondary school pupils are part of the activities that are organised by the foundation “Zeeuwse Zonneboot Race”.

The first ‘Dutch Open’ is made possible by regional, national and international sponsors and subsidisers. Various Zeeland educational institutes and companies take part in the organisation.
